Part autobiographical, And.Breathe.Repeat takes an occasionally dark yet comedic look at a slightly chaotically-minded 40 something woman as she battles with ghosts from her past that still haunt her present. To the outside world, self-proclaimed perfectionist Jen (or is it Jemima…or Jessica…or Jess) is fine but inside, she fights to keep up the mask that hides her inner demons and insecurities.
She just wants to be “normal” and to get into her size 10 jeans again, but she has to get past herself first. Will she succeed?
Jen Roehrig wrote, devised, directed and stars in this unique, solo show. Inspired by her own personal struggles over the years, she felt she had something to say about common issues people face surrounding anxiety, body image and social expectations of someone of a certain age.
And.Breathe.Repeat is soon to be adapted for the stage, following its successful digital world premiere debut at the online Brighton Fringe Festival 2021 – part of the University of Worcester’s Try Me, Love Me Festival.
